November 2020: Cultural venues in the Solothurn canton are allowed to be open until 23:00 with a limit of 30 people. Culture is on the move, even despite the Covid19 situation. The filmmaker has free time - time created by job and project cancellations. She spontaneously decides to accompany the Coq d'Or cultural venue in Olten on part of its journey in the current pandemic situation with her camera. Both behind the scenes and during opening hours. The Coq d'Or and its team are currently characterised by flexible reorientation and adaptation, great uncertainty and improvisation, but also deceleration and newly created space for reflection on the essential and the future. The protagonists include Daniel Kissling (managing director, programme core group), Josephine Walter (in the management, responsible for volunteer work and working at the bar) and Thanuja Sithamparam (in the management, bar department and working at the bar). The film asks about the (non)functioning of the Coq d'Or during the second Covid19 wave, strategies of crisis management and financial survival, but also about opportunities created by the pandemic and sustainable changes in the cultural sector. The Coq d'Or team decided in November to set up an ad hoc spontaneous programme by the end of 2020. This process, from the preparatory work to discussions during meetings to the implementation of the events, will be accompanied by the filmmaker. That was the original plan. After the first concert of this ad hoc programme and a cancellation of the second event, cultural venues and bars in the canton of Solothurn will be closed from 11 December 2020. The uncertainty and the state of limbo that takes place in front of the camera also affect the filmmaker behind the camera. A film in which the working process plays along and in which there is no hiding - because in the current situation you cannot pretend it does not exist.
