An older and a younger author meet in the restaurant 'Bahnhöfli' and eat calf's liver together. Elsbeth, the experienced waitress, serves and critically observes the events. The older man bombards the younger with ever wilder reports and outbursts about Switzerland: mytho-poetic signs and assumptions become adventurously skewed. A national chaos full of barbs, in which not only the older author is irretrievably dislocated, but also drags the younger colleague into it. At the moment when the younger man realises that the seemingly harmless meeting between colleagues has long since degenerated into a fatal experimental arrangement, Elsbeth steps in. And it becomes clear: she, too, is a creature of madness, has allowed herself to be bought and instrumentalised by the elderly author. But then the unexpected happens. In an act of personal strength and purification, Elsbeth manages to overcome the strategies of populism within herself. She rises from the ground. And stands in her regained dignity before two astonished and defeated men.
