Der Wilde Weisse
Driven by the longing for a free life, the explorer Paul Wirz (*1892) from Gelterkinden ventures on seven expeditions to the South Seas. Here, "where sea and jungle roar, savages and cannibals dwell", the headstrong world vagabond finds his paradise. Paul Wirz died in New Guinea in 1955, a man who was never at home.
Fifty years later, his son Dadi (1931) and grandson Pawi (1959) set off together for Papua New Guinea. They want to find out why Paul Wirz was so drawn to the Papuans. The journey of the two men takes a surprising turn: Pawi falls in love with a young Papuan woman. A new chapter in the wild family saga begins.
