Eigene Wege – The Theatre Producer Paul Weibel

In a satellite city of Valencia, the Chapão group is testing a new theatre piece; they script scenes from their life experiences in the neighbourhood and place them in the space; Paul Weibel accompanies them as director and digs deeper into the dramatic moments and their authenticity with them.

Paul Weibel searched for an alternative path to the state theatre very early on after his training as an actor in the 1960s. As a co-founder of the Claque in Baden, he was committed to independent, political theatre work.

The film shows the current work in Valencia and his way there - and it becomes a statement for culture as a human right.
