Niklaus Troxler – Jazz in Willisau

A life with jazz and graphic design
An exciting portrait of the internationally renowned, award-winning Swiss graphic designer and event manager. From 1975 to 2009, he directed the renowned jazz festival in the small Lucerne town of Willisau. Troxler is in demand worldwide as a designer and expert speaker. His legendary posters can be seen in New York's 'Museum of Modern Art' as well as on record covers of stars such as Thelonious Monk or Irène Schweizer.
Personally coloured conversations, statements by prominent companions, impressions of his everyday work and private archive material combine to form a sonorous, moving composition of images. Together with concert and festival impressions, the film reflects socio-cultural changes since the 1970s. Above all, it pays homage to a passionately committed, idiosyncratic, original creative who is literally inspired by his art and jazz.
