In the Schächental, the Gisler family lives in three households, which are occupied depending on the season. Farming on the mountain is hard for the whole family, even for the four children - at least that's how we see it, we urbanites. For the Gislers, it's normal: apart from the four processions a year, milking, cheese-making, herding cattle and entertaining guests on the alp are as much a part of this archaic, free existence as wrestling, making music and sometimes working at the supermarket checkout in winter. We accompany the Gislers for a year and a half on their wanderings.
